Here’s an update of my first impressions here in Shanghai:

The most vital thing here in Shanghai, is to have a card with your home address in Chinese symbols in your wallet as well as under your sole for backup! Cause getting back home without this is almost impossible: no taxi driver would possibly understand my Chinese…

Equipped with such a card I got safely from the airport to my apartment.

The guy from the housing-agency answered “yes” to my asking if he speaks English…a little bit later on, I found out that this is unfortunately the only English word he knows. (-: (more…)
